FIRST Indonesia celebrated Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day with SportyFirst 2026, a friendly badminton event held at KYZN Kuningan in South Jakarta on August 24, 2026.

The activity brought employees, the founder, and company directors together outside their usual working environment. It gave the team time to stay active, enjoy friendly competition, and connect with colleagues across different roles.

An active Independence Day celebration

SportyFirst was created as a different way to mark Indonesia’s Independence Day. Instead of holding a formal office program, the team met on the badminton court for a day built around participation and shared energy.

Employees joined matches, supported teammates, and spent time with colleagues they may not work with every day. The competition added excitement, but the event remained open and inclusive. Participants could contribute by playing, cheering, or helping maintain the atmosphere throughout the day.

The founder and directors also joined the matches alongside employees. Their participation helped create a relaxed setting where leadership and staff could share the same experience as one team.

Employee engagement beyond daily work

Employee engagement activities in Indonesia can take many forms. For FIRST Indonesia, SportyFirst provided a simple way for people to interact beyond meetings, project schedules, and routine responsibilities.

Sports create natural moments of communication. Teammates need to coordinate, respond quickly, and encourage one another. Between matches, people also have space for informal conversation and shared laughter.

These moments do not replace the collaboration required in daily work. They give employees another context in which to understand colleagues, build familiarity, and strengthen personal connections.

Playing together and supporting each other

The spirit of the event was captured through the message #PlayTogetherSupportEachOther. The phrase reflected what could be seen throughout the competition: players giving their best while continuing to encourage colleagues on and off the court.

Although teams wanted to win their matches, the day was not defined only by results. The strongest impression came from the way employees celebrated good play, helped maintain the energy, and enjoyed the experience together.

That balance between competition and support made SportyFirst more than a company badminton event. It became a practical expression of a workplace culture where achievement and teamwork can exist side by side.

Creating space for connection

Teams are built through everyday communication and shared responsibility. They are also strengthened when people have opportunities to meet in a different environment.

SportyFirst 2026 gave the FIRST Indonesia team a chance to pause from regular routines and take part in an activity that was active, social, and accessible. Employees returned to work with shared memories from the event and a stronger sense of connection across the company.

Continuing the Life at FIRST experience

FIRST Indonesia plans internal activities to support a workplace that is collaborative, active, and connected. SportyFirst 2026 was one example of how a company event can bring people together while celebrating an important national occasion.

Because building a stronger team is not limited to what happens at a desk. Sometimes it starts with playing together, supporting each other, and enjoying the experience as one team.
