In February 2026, FIRST Indonesia completed a three-week employee training program focused on practical skills that support clearer decisions, stronger communication, and more effective collaboration at work.
Delivered with PT Cicombrains Inspirasi Indonesia, the program covered three core areas: Logical Thinking for Problem Solving, HoRenSo, and Intercultural Understanding. The sessions combined guided learning, group discussion, and workplace examples so participants could connect each topic with situations they regularly face.
“Developing people is the foundation of sustainable growth,” said Kartika, Human Resource from First Indonesia. “By investing in analytical thinking, communication structure, and cross-cultural awareness, we are equipping our team with the capabilities needed to navigate today’s complex business environment.”
Developing a more structured approach to problem solving
Workplace challenges often involve several teams, changing information, and limited time. Logical thinking provides a framework for separating facts from assumptions, identifying the main issue, and considering possible actions before reaching a decision.
During the training, participants worked through practical scenarios and discussed how different perspectives could affect the way a problem is understood. The purpose was not to introduce a single answer for every situation. It was to help employees organise information more clearly and explain the reasoning behind a recommendation.
This approach supports more productive discussions because teams can focus on the issue, the available evidence, and the next decision that needs to be made.
Strengthening communication through HoRenSo

The program also introduced HoRenSo, a Japanese workplace communication practice based on reporting, informing, and consulting. These three habits help teams share progress, communicate relevant changes, and seek input before an issue becomes more difficult to manage.
For a company working across different functions and project stages, communication is not only about sending more messages. Information needs to reach the right people, at the right time, with enough context for them to respond.
Participants discussed how HoRenSo can support clearer handovers, more consistent updates, and better coordination between employees with different responsibilities.
Building intercultural understanding at work
FIRST Indonesia operates in a working environment where people may bring different professional backgrounds, communication styles, and cultural expectations. Intercultural understanding helps employees recognise these differences without relying on assumptions.
The training encouraged participants to consider how tone, context, decision-making styles, and expectations can influence collaboration. Through focused group discussions, employees exchanged perspectives and reflected on ways to communicate with greater awareness.
This does not mean removing individual working styles. It means creating enough shared understanding for people to ask better questions, clarify expectations, and work through differences constructively.
Turning training topics into practical workplace habits
The sessions used discussion and hands-on exercises rather than relying only on presentation material. Participants were invited to analyse situations, explain their thinking, and connect the learning with their own roles.
This practical format helped the team examine how structured reasoning, communication routines, and cultural awareness can work together. A clear analysis is more useful when it can be communicated effectively. Communication is more effective when people understand the context and the colleagues involved.
Continuing professional development at FIRST Indonesia
The 2026 training season forms part of FIRST Indonesia’s ongoing focus on professional development. Building internal capability is a continuing process that requires practice, reflection, and opportunities to learn across teams.
By investing in employee training in Indonesia, FIRST Indonesia aims to support a workplace where people can approach challenges thoughtfully, communicate with clarity, and collaborate across different responsibilities.
